My Story
I began my career in education, directing high school bands in small-town Georgia. I had a passion for education, and many aspects of my teaching career were fulfilling! However, I had a lingering feeling that my full potential wasn’t being realized. In 1993 my wife and I took a leap of faith and began a new venture as a self-employed musician.
In the early years I did a significant amount of arranging for high school and college bands, which led to opportunities to work with Hal Leonard, the largest sheet music publisher in the world. In 1996-1997 I completed over a hundred orchestrations for the Celebration Hymnal, an innovative non-denominational compilation published by Word Music. This opened the door to a decades-long career in church music, working with publishers such as Lorenz Corporation, Hope Publishing Company, Shawnee Press, Lillenas Publications, Jubilate Music Group, and Lifeway Christian Resources.
I’ve had the privilege of conducting and producing recording sessions with the most premier musicians in the industry, in both Nashville and Indianapolis. As an educator, I still enjoy teaching seminars, master classes, and virtual lessons in arranging, orchestrating, and Finale.
